Workspace-level instructions

Align Ally with your company mission and global goals

Workspace-level instructions serve as Ally's core foundation. This is where you outline the high-level identity of your business. Whenever Ally drafts an email, summarizes a meeting, or answers your questions, it will always respect these global rules first.

1Define your company mission
Explain exactly what your business does and who your target buyers are. The more specific you are, the more relevant Ally's output will be.
2Establish communication guidelines
Set rules for your brand's tone of voice. Should Ally sound formal and technical? Warm and conversational? Write this down so every draft feels consistent.
3Set global context
Include any overarching operational rules that apply to every department using the platform, things Ally should always know regardless of what it is being asked to do.

Example workspace instruction

Here is what a strong workspace instruction looks like for a B2B software company selling data tools to enterprise clients:

We are Acme Data, a B2B SaaS platform that helps enterprise CTOs scale their data infrastructure. Our tone of voice is highly technical, professional, and direct. We never use aggressive sales tactics or marketing fluff. Always assume the person we are speaking to has a deep understanding of software engineering.

Next: teach Ally how each of your custom objects works.
